David
Paxman is a professor of English and associate dean in the College
of Humanties at Brigham Young University.
He and his wife Kathryn, parents of ten, had only heard about Cause
for Hope when they decided that David would join the Foundation's
recent trip to Honduras and Nicaragua in late April. While there,
he learned how farmers burning their sugar cane fields can close
the Tegucigalpa airport, destroying carefully-made travel plans.
More importantly, he saw first hand the extensive needs of the wonderful
people in Central America and how CFH is striving to meet those
needs through programs that encourage the development of self reliance.
Since he returned to his home in Provo, Utah, the Paxmans have become
committed to the work of the Foundation and generous donors. We
are grateful to David and Kathryn and others like him who give life
to the mission of Cause for Hope.
In the fall of 2002, a group of missionaries
that had served together in New York City during the late 1960s
committed to support Cause for Hope in honor of their mission presidents.
Dan Fugal is among that group. He continues to be a generous supporter
of CFH efforts and was able to observe its programs in action when
he visited Central America last year. Dan is the recently retired
CEO of Fugal Companies of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
He and his wife Jill have been called to preside over the Oregon
Eugene Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
beginning this summer. We thank Dan and Jill for their commitment
to the families of Central America.
