Opportunities are available for young men and women to serve missions. These opportunities become a great blessing for those they serve, but also for them as they gain experience teaching gospel principles. They travel away from home to learn self-discipline and guiding principles that help them succeed in business, education and their vocations upon their return. Funds are necessary to meet the requirement to commence missionary work after personal and local church resources are applied. Cause For Hope becomes an instrument to help generous donors to contribute to these financial requirements. This includes health, dental, and clothing needs for worthy missionary candidates after they work for this assistance.
Cause for Hope provides young single adults with the clothes, shoes, suits, suitcases, passports, and other articles that will help them to serve their missions. They have rendered 60 to 75 hours of compassionate service in their communities to be able to receive help from CFH. During this year, CFH efforts in Central America have supported over 275 future missionaries. Since CFH initiated the Pre-Mission Financial Assistance Program in 2007 more than 900 young single adults have been helped to enter the misison field.

Name: Anselmo Baquiax
Home: Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
Work performed: 75 hours of service repairing ceilings and walls of two houses of members of his Branch.
CFH Assistance: dental care, medical checkups, vaccines, x-rays of lungs, shirts, shoes and suitcases.
Mission Call: South Guatemala Mission
Anselmo Baquiax is 19 years old and represents those future missionaries whose life has been extremely challenging. He is a good example of strength! Anselmo comments to us with a broken voice that at age 6 his father abandoned his family. The worst happened a year later, when his mother also abandoned his family and went to a foreign country. Since then, Anselmo and his two brothers have been in the care of an unmarried alcoholic aunt. It is difficult to picture that situation, but at the same time it is impressive to feel the spiritual strength that Anselmo has developed, especially the great desire to serve a mission. He trusts that his Heavenly Father will care for his brothers while he is in the Mission Field. Anselmo has had two jobs in his life: Weaver and bricklayer. He makes $33 a week. |
